At Uni – Hallway Scene

Lira’s POV

Lira was keeping her things in the locker when someone suddenly slammed it shut with a loud thud.

Lira (annoyed): I know who it is.

A voice rang out, too loud for the quiet hahallway.

Ginny: Hey gurl, what’s up?

Lira turned slowly, already rolling her eyes.

Lira: Ginny, stop acting like a freak.

Ginny grinned, leaning casually against the lockers, twirling a pen between her fingers.

Ginny: Aww, come on. You miss me, don’t you? Admit it.

Lira (coldly): I’d miss a migraine more.

Ginny (mock offended): Ouch. Still spicy in the morning, I see.

Ginny leaned in closer, her tone suddenly more serious.

Ginny: So... hear anything interesting lately? Maybe something hidden... in the library?

Lira’s expression faltered just for a second, but she masked it with a smirk.

Lira: You’re playing with the wrong fire, Ginny.

Ginny (smirking): Fire’s fun. And besides, you’re not the only one snooping around.

Ginny: Girl, I know you love to play with fire.

Lira (arms crossed): Don’t tell me it’s him. That bookworm?

Ginny (grinning): Come on, who doesn’t like that boy Kai? He’s handsome, calm, cold—totally my type.

Lira (dryly): Then keep your “type” to yourself. Don’t bring it here. You’re so deluded.

Ginny laughed, not at all offended, clearly enjoying pushing Lira’s buttons.

Ginny: Aww, jealous much?

Lira (sharply): Of what? A walking, talking iceberg?

Ginny (teasing): Please. If he’s an iceberg, I’d still sail straight into him. Worth the crash.

Lira (rolling her eyes): You need help.

Ginny (winking): Maybe. But you—you’re hiding something. I can see it in your eyes. And trust me, I always find out.

Lira's expression darkened, the smirk vanishing. For a second, silence stretched between them like a wire pulled tight.

Lira (coldly): Stay out of things that don’t concern you, Ginny. This isn’t a game.

Ginny's smile faltered just a bit before she backed off, hands raised playfully.

Ginny: Fine, fine. But if it is a game, I’m definitely not sitting on the bench.

They were mid-conversation when someone intentionally bumped into both of their shoulders, strutting ahead without so much as a glance.

Lira & Ginny (in sync, loud): What the actual fuck?! What on earth is your problem?

The girl turned around with a smirk that could curdle milk.

Miu Miu: Aw, poor girlies. Look who’s talking.

Lira (groaning, under her breath): Oh man, not this girl again.

She turned to the reader’s imaginary camera like it was a documentary.

Lira (deadpan): If you don’t know who she is—meet the head girl. Miu Miu. The ultimate attention seeker and spoiled brat deluxe.

Ginny (cracking her knuckles): I swear, I’m gonna break her nose this time.

Lira (grabbing her arm): No, girl. We don’t intend to make our hands dirty.

Miu Miu twirled her hair, ignoring the threat completely.

Miu Miu: If you’re done with your little drama session, I’ll be off. That newbie? Kai? Yeah… he’s gonna be my boyfriend.

Ginny choked on air, and Lira’s eye twitched in visible annoyance.

Ginny: This girl has lost all her screws.

Lira (calm but deadly): She never had any to begin with.

Miu Miu winked, then turned and strutted down the hallway like she owned it.

Ginny (muttering): One day, I’m telling you, I’m gonna trip her in front of the whole damn uni.

Lira (smirking): And I’ll be there to applaud.

Ginny: Oh wait, let’s make a scene right now. Time to show everyone who the real Miu Miu is.

Lira (alarmed): No, no, don’t tell me you’re gonna do something crazy.

Ginny (grinning): Bingo. You’re actually right. Watch and learn.

Lira: Hey, hey, wait!

Ginny stepped forward confidently, her eyes locked on Miu Miu as the hallway buzzed with curious onlookers starting to notice the brewing tension.

Lira (narrowing her eyes): Wait—where are you going?

Ginny (cheeky): To the washroom.

Lira (suspicious): What’s the bucket for? And the balloons? What are you planning?

Ginny (casually pointing): Look over there—ohhh, Lira, look! Boy’s got his own car!

Lira followed her gaze and snorted.

Lira: And yeah, you see that bitch too? Strutting like she owns the whole damn campus.

Outside, Kai was unlocking his car, calm as ever. He was just about to step in when—

Kai (internally, monotone): I was going to get inside my car. Then some girlish, manicured hands suddenly stopped the car door.

He turned slightly. Standing there was Miu Miu, flipping her hair like it was a shampoo commercial.

Miu Miu (sweet but fake): Hey, boy. What’s up?

Kai (politely stiff): Umm… hey.

Miu Miu (smiling too much): So, you’re the newbie? Wanna have some fun?

She leaned in, getting way too close for comfort, her hand trailing to his shoulder.

Kai immediately jerked her hand off, his expression turning sharp.

Kai (coldly): Hands to yourself, lady.

Miu Miu (still pretending to laugh it off): Alright, cool. How about a party then?

She pulled out a glossy, glittery invitation card.

Miu Miu: You’re invited. You’ll come… right?

Kai (deadpan): Umm… no thanks. I’m busy.

Meanwhile, behind his car, crouched and barely breathing, were Lira and Ginny. Ginny held a bucket filled with water balloons, a devilish grin spreading across her face.

Lira (whispering nervously): Girl, what are you doing? Someone’s gonna see us!

Ginny (hushed but excited): Shut up, Lira—and enjoy the fun.

She started positioning one of the balloons like a sniper prepping for a perfect shot.

Ginny locked eyes on her target like a trained assassin. Miu Miu was still standing near Kai’s car, fluffing her hair, pretending like she didn’t just get rejected.

Miu Miu (sweetly desperate): You sure? You’ll miss the highlight of your life, babe.

Kai gave her a blank stare, clearly done.

Kai: I’ll take the risk.

At that exact moment, Ginny launched the water balloon with deadly precision.

SPLAT!

It hit Miu Miu square on the back of her head. Water burst everywhere—drenching her hair, dress, and fake confidence. The crowd that had slowly gathered in the hallway and parking area burst into gasps and suppressed laughter.

Miu Miu (screaming): WHAT THE—?! WHO DID THIS?!

Ginny (still crouched): Bullseye.

Lira (whispering, horrified and impressed): Oh my god… you’re insane.

Ginny: Thank you, I try.

Miu Miu spun around, dripping wet and looking murderous, but there was no sign of the culprit. Ginny and Lira ducked down behind Kai’s car, holding back giggles.

Kai watched it all silently, eyebrow raised, but said nothing. He got into his car like nothing happened.

Miu Miu (furious): This is not over! I will find out who did this!!

She stomped off, squelching with every step. People whispered, a few phones clearly recording the moment for the group chats.

Ginny (finally standing up, satisfied): Now the real Miu Miu’s been exposed.

Lira (grinning): Remind me never to mess with you.

Just as Miu Miu tried to gather what little dignity she had left—

SPLASH!!

Another water balloon landed perfectly on her chest this time, soaking her expensive designer outfit and making her mascara run like a river.

Miu Miu (screeching): AHHHHHHHHHH!!! URFGGHHH WHAT THE FUCK—

She looked down at her soaked feet.

Miu Miu (wailing): MY CHANEL SHOES! NOOOO! My daddy and boyfriend bought this for me! This—this outfit cost one million!

She dramatically flailed her hands like she was on a soap opera set.

All around the campus, students froze mid-step. Some gawked. Others whispered. A few started recording. Phones were discreetly up. Giggles echoed across the hallway.

Lira (muttering to Ginny, smirking): Chudail ko dekh… kaise uchal rahi hai.

(Witch really jumping like it’s Navratri.)

Ginny clapped her hand over her mouth, trying not to laugh out loud.

Miu Miu spun around, soaked and fuming, hair clinging to her cheeks, mascara smudged like war paint.

Miu Miu (screeching): WHO DID THIS?! WHO’S THE FUCKING PSYCHO? I SWEAR I’LL GET YOU EXPELLED!

A voice in the crowd muttered,

Random student: “She’s finally living the drama she always wanted.”

Everyone tried (and failed) not to laugh as Miu Miu stomped off again, this time slipping slightly in her wet shoes—catching herself just in time.

Ginny (snickering): Best. Day. Ever.

As Miu Miu disappeared around the corner, soaked, screaming, and absolutely humiliated, Ginny and Lira could barely hold it together.

Lira (laughing under her breath): Girl, we’re going to hell for this.

Ginny (grinning ear to ear): Correction: I already booked VIP seats.

They peeked from behind the car—Kai was still standing there, one hand on the door, watching the chaos unfold with his usual unreadable expression.

Lira (freezing): Oh shit… he saw us?

Ginny (shrugging): Maybe. Maybe not. Either way—run, bitch, run!

The two girls bolted around the corner like guilty cartoon characters, giggling uncontrollably, dodging behind columns and bushes, nearly tripping over each other.

Back near the car, Kai opened his door slowly, still calm, still silent. A tiny smirk played on his lips before vanishing just as fast as it appeared.

Kai (quietly, to himself): Not bad, prank squad.

He stepped into his car and drove off like nothing happened—leaving the aftermath of Miu Miu’s meltdown and the whispers of the entire campus behind.

Kai's POV

-1:15 AM

Kai (muttering to himself while lying awake):

"I can’t shake her off… that girl—Lira Moon. The chaos she carries in her eyes… it’s like they’ve stitched themselves into my thoughts."

He turns over, staring blankly at the wall, the room dim and silent except for the ticking of the clock.

Kai (thinking):

"She walks like she doesn’t owe the world an explanation. Talks like she’s hiding thunder behind her lips. And those eyes—damn—those eyes don’t just look, they read me."

He sits up slowly, jaw clenched, voice low and intense:

"Why do I feel like she knows more than she lets on? Why does it feel like she’s always a step ahead… like she’s watching me, testing me…"

He gets out of bed and paces the room, hands in his hair, restless.

Kai:"She’s messing with my head—and the worst part? I don’t want her to stop."

The wind howls faintly outside, brushing against the windows like a whisper. He stops pacing, frozen in thought.

Kai (almost to himself):

"You're not normal, Lira. And maybe that's what draws me in… Maybe I’m not looking for normal anymore."

Kai shakes his head sharply, like trying to snap out of a trance.

Kai (to himself, sternly):

"Alright, boy. Focus. You’ve got a lot to figure out—not just about her, but about yourself too."

He runs a hand down his face, sighs.

Kai:"You need to study, remember? Yeah. That’s what you're good at. Logic. Facts. Not... overthinking whatever this is."

He throws on a hoodie, grabs his notes, and heads out quietly.

Kai (thinking as he walks):

"It’s weird, I know… but books—when my mind’s all over the place—they pull me in. They shut the world out. It’s like I can breathe in silence again."

The cold night air hits his face as he steps out, the streets almost empty. The moon is high, casting long shadows as he walks toward the campus library.

Kai (murmuring):

"I need this. Just me, the pages, and that silence. No distractions."

He reaches the old library gates—half-forgotten by most students. The lights inside are dim, but always on. He pushes the door open.

Kai (quietly, with a hint of anticipation):

"Let’s go. Time for a late-night self-study session… just me and the truth."

This town in something Something is wrong with this town.

I felt it the moment I arrived—a silence that stretched too long, shadows that lingered a little too much. But I ignored it. Routine is comforting, and I found mine in the library.

A 24-hour library.

At first, it felt like a blessing. A place where I could exist in the quiet, untouched by the world. I started going every night—10 PM to 2 AM. The silence, the dim lights, the endless rows of books—it all felt perfect.

But then, I noticed something odd.

The library closed every Thursday and Friday. No explanation. No signs. Just locked doors, as if something needed to be hidden on those nights.

And then, there was her.

She arrived at exactly 2 AM every Sunday. Never a minute before, never a minute after. She never spoke, never glanced around. Just walked straight to a particular bookshelf, took the same book, scribbled something inside, and left.

I shouldn’t have cared. I should’ve minded my own business.

But curiosity is a dangerous thing.

Last Sunday, I waited. The moment she left, I approached the shelf, pulling out the book. It seemed ordinary—until I noticed the red ink.

Certain words, circled.

Others, rewritten in the margins. As if she wanted someone to read them.

So, I did.

And when I connected the words, the message revealed itself:

"They are watching. Do not trust what you see. Leave before it's too late. Read 2A-9V book."

A shiver ran down my spine.

Then, the clock struck 2 AM.

I turned toward the entrance, expecting her to walk in again.

But no one came.

The library was too silent now.

And when I turned back to the bookshelf—

The book was gone.

I froze.

The book. Gone.

I hadn’t moved. I didn’t even hear footsteps. But the space on the shelf where it sat—empty. Like it was never there.

My heart hammered against my ribs as I scanned the rows around me. Nothing. No one. Just the endless hum of the old ceiling fans and the ticking of the antique clock above the entrance.

I reached out, touching the empty slot like maybe my fingers could pull it back from wherever it vanished.

Kai (murmuring):"No way… I just had it. I just—"

The lights above flickered. Once. Twice. Then steadied.

I backed away, eyes narrowing.

Someone was messing with me. Or worse—something.

Then I saw it.

Tucked between two dusty encyclopedias on the adjacent shelf—a corner of red paper sticking out. I grabbed it without thinking.

It wasn’t the book.

It was a page. Torn out. The same handwriting. The same red ink.

"You took the bait. Good. Now finish what I started. Find Section 9V, row 2A. But don’t stay past 3 AM. That’s when they come."

My throat went dry.

This wasn’t curiosity anymore.

This was a game.

A trap.

And I had just stepped into it.

But even as my mind screamed leave, my feet were already moving—toward Section 9V.

Because the worst thing about curiosity?

It doesn't just kill the cat.

It makes you dig your own grave.

Beep… beep…

The alarm buzzed like a drill in my brain.

"Wake up! Wake up! Kai, Kai—wakey rise and shine! Help your grandma!"

Her voice echoed from downstairs.

I jolted up, breath stuck in my throat.

"What the hell just happened…"

My voice was hoarse. I ran a hand through my hair, damp with sweat.

It was a dream.

Right?

But it didn’t feel like one. The coldness in the air, the red ink, the way the clock struck 2… it all clung to me like a second skin.

I looked around the room. Same walls. Same clock ticking. Same messy desk with half-read books.

But inside me—something felt off.

I sat there for a moment, the echoes of the library still flashing in my mind.

“Kai!” Grandma’s voice snapped me back to reality again.

"Coming!" I called back, forcing myself to stand.

Still, one thought nagged at me as I grabbed my hoodie and headed downstairs:

Why did it feel like more than just a dream?
